Description
Bringing an exotic tropical look in gardens as far north as USDA Zone 6 where temperatures can drop to 10 degrees below zero, the Safari Adventure Pineapple Lily is an eye-pleaser that will turn the heads of any passersby. Living up to its name, this beauty will take you on an exciting adventure all season long. The excitement starts in spring with the emergence of wide, strap-shaped, deep olive green leaves that form an attractive upright clump similar in appearance to Yucca. In summer thick and sturdy stalks begin to rise above the foliage bearing tall spikes of multicolor flowers in shades of cream and pink that age to deep rosy purple. A site to behold in the garden…and you can even cut a few flowers to display indoors in your favorite vase!Â
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 2.5 to 3 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide, the Safari Adventure Pineapple Lily is ideal for use as an accent in small garden spaces and containers or in groupings in perennial flower borders. A fine addition to purple them gardens, cut flower gardens and tropical-look gardens.Â
Growing Preferences
Pineapple Lily is easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average to high fertility. In our gardens it tends to grow best in full sun but will also tolerate some shade. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day for best overall growth and flowering. The foliage of this perennial usually emerges later in spring.Â

This pineapple lily safari is a great accent to our backyard landscape. While the long leaves have sort of wilted down after direct planting, the middle stem which will bloom is getting taller every day. Can’t wait to see the purple-pink-white bloom. My neighbors will be asking where I got them.—————————————–We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy your purchase for years to come! Thanks for the great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
