Description
Named Collector’s Conifer of the Year by the American Conifer Society, this is the topiary tree form version of ‘Pusch’, a slow growing dwarf Norway Spruce that forms an attractive dense mound of foliage atop a single trunk. Its most adored feature are the extremely showy and unusual bright red cones that emerge on almost every stem tip in spring. The cones age to a rich brown and continue to decorate the plant throughout the year. With its attractive foliage and highly ornamental cones, make sure to pick a special spot in the garden for this extraordinary evergreen conifer!
Landscape & Garden Uses
The Pusch Dwarf Norway Spruce is ideal for use as a specimen in small garden spaces, home foundation plantings and conifer or rock gardens. Also excellent for the Xeriscape (low water needs).
Suggested Spacing:Â We suggest using this unusual plant as a specimen
Growing Preferences
Pusch Dwarf Norway Spruce is easy to grow in a damp to moist but well-drained soil of average fertility. As with so many other conifers, constantly soggy or wet soils can lead to root rot or other harmful plant diseases. So make sure to plant this one in well-drained soil. It grows best in full sun however in Zones 7a and 8a in the south it will prefer some shade or filtered sun during the middle of the afternoon. Once established water needs are quite low when growing in the ground. In pots, soil moisture will need to be monitored more closely, especially during summer. When the top two inches of soil is dry, provide water.

This plant is a so aesthetically beautiful in form, texture and colours. It gives me so much calming pleasure just looking and admiring it. Being elevated as a topiary only elevates its beauty. The profusion of vibrant red cones in spring is something that I always look forward to.
My plant came in perfect, healthy condition. As always, the Wilson Bros team did a superb job in packaging it. The soil was nicely hydrated and protected from drying out during shipment with added moist paper on the top. The plant was very well protected within the box that it could handle rough handling during shipment. I would say that their packaging is certainly one of the best in class for online nurseries ( > 90% of my plants are purchased online) – always excellent, meticulous, thoughtful, careful and consistent. The Wilson Bros team is also very understanding and accommodating with my request for UPS instead of FedEd delivery. Thank you!—————————————————Wow! Thanks for the photo! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and great review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
