An easy-to-grow, fast growing and floriferous North American native vine that quickly climbs and covers chain link fences from top to bottom, and arches arbors and other structures, the Jekyll Orange Crossvine produces LOADS of fragrant, bright orange trumpet-shaped flowers in spring reblooming again in late summer and fall in our central Georgia gardens. Some years it seems to bloom spring to frost! The flowers of Jekyll might be a little brighter orange than Tangerine Beauty and they’re shaped a little differently as well. Other than that it is hard to tell the difference between the two varieties. The dense foliage consisting of attractive, oblong leaves remain evergreen in the deep South turning to reddish-purple in fall, with subsequent leaf drop in the northern regions where it will grow.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing up to 30 feet in height or length (however tall or long the support structure) and 4 feet or more in width, the Jekyll Orange Crossvine is ideal for use to climb on and cover fences (from top to bottom!), or to cover a trellis, arch, arbor, pergola or any other structure that might benefit from or support the flowering vine. Rather than grow along just the top of a fence, the vines cascade all the way down to the ground to entirely cover the fence. A fine addition to hummingbird and butterfly gardens, tropical look gardens and the Xeriscape (low water needs).

Suggested Spacing: 4 to 6 feet apart to cover fences

Cultural Preferences

The Jekyll Orange Crossvine is exceptionally easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average to low fertility. It grows in full sun or shade, however blooms heavier with more sun. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight for full flowering. Plants are quite drought tolerant when established. Pruning isn’t necessary, however vines can be pruned after flowering to keep tidy.

I was concerned because my plant was in transit for over a week, and I couldn’t imagine it surviving. However, it was packaged very well, and arrived in excellent condition. After unfolding it, there are four long stems as well as three shorter ones. The tallest is about 4′. I was leery of planting it outside, but also want to get its roots well-established. I have been covering it when temperatures are at or below freezing. It has been outside for nine days now and shows no signs of stress.
The only reason for not providing a 5 star review is that I would have preferred being able to select a ship date after the first of April, which is more appropriate for my location. I was extremely pleased with my order from start to finish. Your website was very simple to navigate. I chose the vine that I wanted based on the excellent description and requirements for it. The delivery was perfect and on time as promised. I opened the box the following day. Just opening the box was more than I could have ever expected. I have opened many plant shipments over the years, but none have been so professionally packaged. The vine was in perfect condition and exactly as described. It is so pretty and healthy. When my grandchildren outgrew their wooden play set with the little fort and swings they gave it to me for my garden. I replaced their swings with a custom made garden swing. I have planted the cross vine to trail over the top of the fort (embellished with frogs) and along the arbor atop the swing. I just can’t wait for the butterflies, bees and hummingbirds to visit it and enjoy it as much as I know that I will. First time ordering from Wilson Bros. Liked the amazing selection and description of how to care for each item.
2 boxes totalling 4 Jekyll Crossvines arrived in perfect condition.
Each plant was well mounted inside box. There was moist paper to keep the soil wet and in place.
You can see that care went into packing, so when I opened each box it was a nice plant I saw, not a mess of dirt or
broken branches.
I just placed my second order of 6 other vines.

I wanted this plant last year, but didn’t pick one up. I was pleased when I opened the box. The plant was well secured and looked good coming out. Very healthy, not many dried leaves and needed little water. Repotted this baby and now I am contemplating where to put this beauty.
