Description
Selected for its excellent winter hardiness as far north as USDA Zone 7 and its vigorous and larger form to 6 feet tall and wide, the Cape Hatteras Sabal Palm is a hard to find selection that is sure to add a tropical flare to the landscape. From Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, it is a fan palm that likes growing in rich, moist soils and partially shaded environments. Though this palm grows more like a shrub, over time it can develop short stocky trunks. The huge, deeply-divided palmate evergreen leaves grow 2 to 4 feet long are arranged in the shape of a fan. Showy, yellowish to white flowers in panicles up to 6 feet long appear in summer. The flowers are followed by shiny black fruits. A dramatic plant that adds year round interest in the landscape!
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 5 to 6 feet tall and wide, the Cape Hatteras Sabal Palm is ideal for use as a specimen or in groupings partly shaded larger landscape borders and even home foundation plantings. In its native North Carolina habitat you’ll find it growing in the dappled sunlight of moist forests. Looks very nice around garden ponds or in rock gardens near boulders and also makes a nice solo or centerpiece in containers of 14 inches or more in diameter. A fine addition to rock gardens, woodland gardens and tropical look gardens.
Suggested Spacing:Â 10 feet or more apart for space between plants

Great service and fast delivery. Fed EX treated the package rough as usual so the plants were jumbled up inside even though they were packaged well. The plants didn’t look too damaged so I planted them anyway and so far so good! I don’t think any packaging can stand up to fed ex handling procedures. I will definitely be ordering from Wilson Brothers again, great company!———————————————-Thanks for the kind words and awesome review! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
